The Fourth International Comenius Meeting in Badajoz, Spain

The fourth international Comenius meeting took place between May the 2nd and May the 8th in the city of Badajoz, Spain.
The Romanian team consisted of 2 teachers, namely, Stoleriu A.(the scientific coordinator of the project)and Purdilă L. and of 3 students: Ivan Loredana from 9th SB, Pintilie Ionuţ from 9th MI and Milea Andrei from 11th MI.
This last Comenius meeting provided us with an excellent cultural intake. Not only did we get to get to enjoy the Comenius activities within the project but we also visited lots of historical places which are endowed with a great deal of the Roman and / or the Arabian heritage.
Our hosts took us to Merida, where we could see the remnants of Diana's temple and the Roman theatre. They also took us to Caceres, a larger city and a cultural centre where we could see many wonderful things such as museums, an Andy Warhol exhibition, traces of the Muslim influence on the Spanish culture and many more.
Then they took us to Trujillo, the original place of the Spanish Conquistadores and a few kilometres away we had the chance to see a wonderful winery, a beautiful and harmoniously designed building, with impressive paintings and sculptures.
Our final trip was to Olivenza, very close to the Portuguese border. In Olivenza we saw an extremely beautiful and sophisticated cathedral that reminded us of our sophisticated Romanian churches as well; then we saw a museum which displayed wonderful religious artefacts but also models of furnished rooms as they were lived in during the 19th century in Spanish homes: a living-room, a bedroom, an embroidery room for the women and an entrance hall to a Spanish house.
What strikes one when visiting Olivenza is an alignment of palm trees on the Spanish streets, which can be quite narrow, but beautiful and picturesque.
Moreover, our realtionship with all of our partners flourished and everybody... both teachers and students literally cried when they had to say goodbye and return to their countries.

The English teacher

Our visit to Brno, The Czech Republic

So we went to Brno, The Czech Republic.
It was a delightful cultural and educational exchange. It involved a lot of effort - there is no doubt about this, but all in all I would say it was worth it. Why the effort? Because the coordinating teacher has to supervise the whole team and take care of all details. Plus, some of our students and teachers had some health problems so I had to be extra careful. We finally managed to take our student, Anişoara Ciobanu with us, to the Czech Republic. She finally got better and came out of the hospital so that she could join the Comenius team for the 3rd Comenius school trip.

Our overall coordinator, Jutta Nagel was very pleased with our work on the project and congratulated us for the Alternative Energy Project Proposal.

I also have good news on the social side of this exchange: I came to realize that Western high school girls are very fond of Eastern European teenage boys, that is Romanian boys :) :) :)

The 2nd Comenius mobility

Dear all,

I would like to inform you about the second Comenius mobility within the Europen project 2009-2011. It took place in Kuopio, Finland, at Klasikka High School. The people who participated were:

Teachers: Mihai Vitcu, Alina Stoleriu, Oltea Savin
Students: Loredana Cristinaru, Adi Sergiu Loghin, Cristina Bivol, Nicu Agapi, Monica Zimbru

It was an enlightening encounter. We discussed our previous activities and set up the ones to be done in the near future. Also, we took a glimpse of Finnish people, their lifestyles, their language, their food and most importantly, their educational system, which is flawless, by the way.

Klassikka high school impressed us all very much. Almost everybody in Finland speaks English, their school is very clean, the staff very well organized. The Finnish school system is brilliant, that's my opinion. I was astonished by the students' good behaviour, politeness and sensitivity.
Plus, our Finnish hosts offered us the possibility to have sauna. We all tried it, first students (female, then male), then teachers (female, then male). So it was all very well planned and organized.

You should also know that two of our students had to participate in the poetry slam and read out loud the poems they had written back home. The winners were the Spanish students but our students were praized by the other teachers and students as well. The winning poems were measured by the intensity of the public's applause.

I'm back again with more information. So, we are going to take 5 students to Finland, for our 2nd project meeting. 3 of our students are going to perform the reading of 2 poems. The first poem is written in our national language, in Romanian and it is going to be read out loud by a very good student, Cristina Bivol, by her name. The title of the poem is .

Dear little Eye Tooth, my very special friend,
You left your crimson cape at my place the other day,
Your eye teeth are still by the bathroom mirror
And you forgot your bottle of vital serum in my fridge, by the way.
My cat miraculously escaped death
Even though its life hanged upon a thread.
By the way… when you eloped with the star of your dreams…
Did she accept you for who you are?
You, sheer perfection,
How could you leave behind so much disappointment?
The sky has been weeping since you left
Which proves that… well… you are willing to give up your habits?
I understand that love is blind…
But who would have expected you to fall in love?!
Nevertheless, can you really give up your vital elements, oh, you… loverboy?
And the waters have been murmuring, moaning; oh… it’s a general heartache around here.

I am going to post the 2nd poem in a short while. I am talking about the Romanian poem which has been written by our brilliant student, Sergiu Adi Loghin and it is going to be performed live in Kuopio, Finland by Sergiu himself and by Loredana Cristinaru. This poem is actually a romantic dialogue between the two and it is written in the key of Mihai Eminescu's poetic style.

The Winter Photography Session

Hello again. Today I am writing about the photos our Romanian students brought for the Winter Photography Session. There are plenty. I am very impressed. Everybody did a good job. Besides, it makes you remember what a beautiful country Romania is :)
